The Amir Temur Statue in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, is a bronze equestrian monument located in Amir Temur Square, the city’s central hub. Unveiled on August 31, 1994, to mark Uzbekistan’s third independence anniversary, it depicts Amir Temur (Tamerlane), a 14th-century Turco-Mongol conqueror and founder of the Timurid Empire, on horseback in royal attire. Created by sculptor Ilkhom Jabbarov, the statue’s plinth bears Temur’s motto, “Strength is in Justice,” inscribed in four languages. Surrounded by historic buildings like the Uzbekistan Hotel and the Amir Timur Museum, the square is a lush, green space with fountains, accessible via the Amir Temur metro station. It’s a key cultural landmark, symbolizing Uzbekistan’s national pride, though Temur’s legacy as a just ruler is debated regionally.
